TRAVELLING TO RETHYMNO

You can reach Crete by either plane or boat.

There is an international airport in both towns of Heraklion and Chania.


If you arrive in Athens, you can also catch a daily boat from the port of Pireus to Heraklion or Chania, leaving at around 21.00 hrs and arriving the next morning. Please note that you have to book your tickets in advance with Minoan Lines or Anek Lines


There are regular bus services from both Chania and Heraklion every hour all day every day. Also, buses to Rethymno are available to ferry passengers as they disembark.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation is offered by the ScapeCon 2021 organization for three nights (22-25/10) for free. 

​

The Youth Hostel in Rethymno is situated in the center of the town, very close to the conference venue and provides beds in a dormitory with shared bathrooms. 


Other facilities include TV and music system, free WiFi, shaded courtyard and lawned garden, breakfast, snacks, and cheap drinks available, safety deposit

box, lockers, in the rooms, books, newspapers, and magazines, help desk, clothes washing facilities, cctv security system, kitchen and fridge, and air conditioning. 


STAYING AT RETHYMNO

Rethymno is a small, student town, situated on the Northern coast of Crete. It has a wonderful old harbor, lined with Venetian and Ottoman buildings, and the Venetian citadel, Fortezza. 


The Old Town of Rethymno is a colorful labyrinth of Venetian residencies, courtyards, historic churches, minareted mosques, elaborate fountains, ornate doorframes, and museums. 


The Old Town is also full of life with bars and restaurants running from day to night, that satisfy a wide range of tastes and budgets. 


Autumn is generally a mild season, with a daytime average of 20 to 22 C.
